چکیده

We show that in a large class of supersymmetric models with spontaneously broken B − L symmetry, neutron–antineutron oscillations occur at an observable level even though the scale of B − L breaking is very high, vB−L ∼ 2 × 10 16 GeV, as suggested by gauge coupling unification and neutrino masses. We illustrate this phenomenon in the context of a recently proposed class of seesaw models that solves the strong CP problem and the SUSY phase problem using parity symmetry. We obtain an upper limit on N − N̄ oscillation time in these models, τN−N̄ ≤ 10 −10 sec. This suggests that a modest improvement in the current limit on τN−N̄ of 0.86×10 8 sec will either lead to the discovery of N − N̄ oscillations, or will considerably restrict the allowed parameter space of an interesting class of neutrino mass models.

Generation of the cosmological baryon asymmetry in SUSY based model with broken R-parity and low scale gravity is considered. The model allows for a long-life time or even stable proton and observable neutron-antineutron oscillations.

Oscillations from Baryogenesis

It has been recently proposed that the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the universe may have its origin in “post-sphaleron baryogenesis” (PSB). It is a TeV scale mechanism that is testable at the LHC and other low energy experiments. In this paper we present a theory of PSB within a quark-lepton unified scheme based on the gauge group SU(2)L ×SU(2)R × SU(4)c that allows a direct connection betwe...

Neutrino Oscillations without Neutrino Masses or Heavy Mass Scales: A Higher-Dimensional Seesaw Mechanism

Recent theoretical developments have shown that extra spacetime dimensions can lower the fundamental GUT, Planck, and string scales. However, recent evidence for neutrino oscillations suggests the existence of light nonzero neutrino masses, which in turn suggests the need for a heavy mass scale via the seesaw mechanism. In this short note, we make two observations. First, we show that a higher-...

Seesaw mechanism in the sneutrino sector and its consequences

The seesaw-extended MSSM provides a framework in which the observed light neutrino masses and mixing angles can be generated in the context of a natural theory for the TeV-scale. Sneutrinomixing phenomena provide valuable tools for connecting the physics of neutrinos and supersymmetry. We examine the theoretical structure of the seesaw-extended MSSM, retaining the full complexity of three gener...

Observable Consequences of Partially Degenerate Leptogenesis

In the context of the seesaw mechanism, it is natural that the large solar and atmospheric neutrino mixing angles originate separately from large 2× 2 mixings in the neutrino and charged-lepton sectors, respectively, and large mixing in the neutrino couplings is in turn more plausible if two of the heavy singlet neutrinos are nearly degenerate. We study the phenomenology of this scenario, calcu...
